Teeside University - Case Study
Teesside University is a well-regarded, financially strong institution, recognised regionally and nationally for the transformative impact it has on the communities it serves, and is a catalyst for economic, social and cultural development.
The university recently sort to upgrade their locker facilities within the university’s sports facility (Olympia Building). A key part of the remit for the new lockers was the incorporation of touch RFID locks with a desirable option to link into the facilities current XN Leisure Management system. This forward-thinking solution ties into the philosophy of integrating technology to improve efficiency and lower long-term costs.
By integrating advanced push button RFID smart locks supplied by our partners Gantner Technologies, Garran were able to offer a full design, manufacture and installation package to the university.
The new lockers are already proving their worth and are very well thought-of by staff and students; Mark Hawkings, Head of Sport & Well-being at Teesside University Middlesbrough said “We have been impressed by the whole service received from Garran Lockers, from procurement to installation and delighted with the final product. The move away from coin- operated lockers to the use of the University’s ID/Data card, has been well received by our students and staff. Of particularly note, the onsite teams from both Garran and Gantner, were extremely thorough and flexible during the installation process.”Garran designed, manufactured and installed 37 bespoke 2 tier lockers fitted with Gantner ECO push button locks. By integrating these into the existing management system, students already familiar with the use of RFID technology at the university, can continue using their existing cards but now, with the added function of reserving a locker for the duration of their time within the facility.
